Super Woden GP II had a really neat rally mode but it wasn't the focus of the game. Rally Edge takes the rally mode, turns it to 11, and makes an entire game out of it.

Rally Edge discards the static isometric camera of SWPG2, which was my biggest complaint. It instead institutes a chase camera which is just better 99% of the time. 1% of the time the camera gets blocked by trees or similar.

Rally Edge is otherwise just SWGP2's rally mode, improved a hundred fold. The career mode is here, but polished and streamlined to not need grind. A bunch of repetitive cups with silly car requirements were discarded. AI opponents were entirely removed for a rally experience.

I love it. It's a neat game to just sit down and try to time trial. My favorite racer in ages.
